Extra Soft Idly


Ingredients
  1. Raw rice - 1 cup
  2. Urad dal – ¾ cup
  3. Cooked rice – ¾ cup
  4. Water – ¾ cup
  5. Salt – as required
Method
  1. Soak raw rice and urad dal for 2 to 3 hrs.
  2. Grind urad dal and cooked rice to a fine paste by adding ½ cup water.
  3. Coarse grind raw rice with water so that it have small granules.
  4. Mix it well with the above paste.
  5. Let the mixture sit for about 10 to 12 hrs in a warm place for fermentation.
  6. Add salt and mix.
  7. Grease idli molds with oil and then pour the batter.
  8. Cook in the steamer for about 15-20 min.
  9. When it cools remove with a knife.

    Thanks.
    Only thing is it made only 26 idlis.
    Grinding urad dal and cooked rice together is new to me. I always grind urad dal separately and then rice and cooked rice together.
