Meen manga mulaku curry - Fish and mango in a thin chilly sauce

  1. Fish pieces– ½ kg
  2. Raw mango (cut into small pieces)– 1 no
  3. Shallots (sliced) – 5 pods
  4. Ginger (thinly sliced) – 1” piece
  5. Green chillies (edge silted) – 2 nos
  6. Kashmiri chilly powder – 1 tbsp
  7. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  8. Water – 2 cups
  9. Salt – to taste
  10. Coconut oil – 2 tbsp
  11. Curry leaves – a few
  1. Heat oil in a pan and add shallots, ginger, green chillies and curry leaves.
  2. Saute till they turn light brown.
  3. Add a little water to the spice powders to form a paste.
  4. Now add this paste to the pan and saute till the raw smell goes.
  5. Add water and salt to taste. Mix well and keep it covered till it boils.
  6. Open the lid and add the fish pieces and mangoes.
  7. Keep covered and cook on a medium flame.
  8. Remove from flame when oil starts to float on the top of the curry.
  9. The curry tastes better after it sit for one day.
  10. Serve with rice.
